Oh, How the Weak have Fallen

I can't say I was hoping for much out of the Kansas City Royals this year, but I can say I was hoping for something! After tonight's loss to the Twins, we have now dropped to a woeful 5-16. A solid 10 1/2 games out of first place and on pace to set an all-time worst record in baseball (39-123). Now, I don't think that will happen, but that's mostly because I just hope it doesn't. There's a lot of talk to fire Tony Pena (the manager) and I have to say that's fine by me cause anyone can't do much worse than he has. We have some the sloppiest, lethargic players I've ever seen and that has to lay in part at the feet of the manager (whether they're veterans or 20 yr old rookies). It's a sad state of affairs and I long for the days that I can go to a ballgame and actually hope to see a win.

P.S.
Go Royals!

Conversation over a Beer

Shena: So how did that interview go?
Me: It went alright. I just think they're real hardcore programmers there.
Shena: *confused* Oh, so you're not a hardcore programmer?
Me: No, I'm not really into the hardcore; I'm more into the...soft...core?

Welcome to the World, Little Guy

Briggs William Murphy - Age 0

For those of you who aren't related to me, I thought I'd tell ya the fun news that my cousin Ryan and his wife Jenn just gave birth to their first child- Briggs William Murphy. And with a name like that, he'll surely grow up with an Irish brogue and a penchant for soccer and hooliganry. But honestly, I love his name and feel definitively older (since he's the first great-grandchild born in the family). Which of course means Grandma will be calling him fat within a fortnight.
