And the winner is...

So my Christmas "vacation" was cut short due to Harry's needing my services for that oh-so-busy weekend after Christmas rush. Regardless, I did have a fun time hanging out with my family whilst home. Quite a few board games were played betwixt my brothers and I and as usual Jon refused to let anyone defeat him. It was quite amusing to watch Kristin (his wife) and him try to formulate one cohesive plan co-operatively on Settlers of Catan (they lost). And, as it happened last time we played, Wise and Otherwise turned into a laughing contest between Jon, Jeff, and I. Much fun.

So now I'm back here and there isn't much to do considering most people are still home on break. Which brings me to my point- I was coincidentally at Wally World yesterday when I remembered that I was in need of some deodorant (not at that moment, but in general). So I perused the numerous racks of deodorant, hoping to find one that caught my eye/sounded good enough/was cheap enough. For a second there, I could've sworn I was deciding on Gatorade: the competition between buying Winter Ice and Mountain Breeze was only paralleled by the fierce rivalry of Overdrive and Maximum Force. Not to mention the crucial choice of gel, powder, or aerosol! After a deep breath, and a moment to collect my thoughts, I made my decision...

(Arctic Peak(gel) won by a hairs breadth over Ocean Surf(powder))

Choppa Style

I decided to make some Peanut Butter cookies tonight to take home for my family tomorrow. In case you're interested, here's the recipe:

Voila! Peanut Butter cookies! So anyways, I got to watching the great Discovery Channel show American Choppers. For those of you who havent seen it, it's a behind the scenes look at the going-ons at Orange County Choppers. Even if you don't like the bikes, the show is worth watching just for the interaction between the father and his two sons. Anyways, they had there special Christmas episode and it gave me some good holiday cheer, which is always nice. Plus, I was eating cookie dough.....which is also nice. If only I hadn't run out of Nog already.

This one may take a minute

1. List your five favorite beverages.
This, this, this, this, and the best of all.

2. List your five favorite websites.
This one, this one, this one, this one, and this one I guess. (Or just look at my links...)

3. List your five favorite snack foods.
These, these, these, these, and these. (Kind of a theme there)

4. List your five favorite board and/or card games.
Here's one, and here's another, and another, and another, and of course this one.

5. List your five favorite computer and/or game system games.
Phew - uh This of course, this, this, this, and this. (These are just the first five that came to mind)

52 Years and not one more

Alas, sad news has reached my ears this morning. I was informed that my favorite greasy spoon diner in the whole world, Kreem Kup, will be closing it's doors forever. They've been around for 52 years and have never advertised! So, today I spent some "hard-earned" money to once more taste their delicious fattening burgers ($1.90 with fries- what a steal!!).

Forgotten Five

1. Do you enjoy the cold weather and snow for the holidays?
Yes, truly.

2. What is your ideal holiday celebration? How, where, with whom would you celebrate to make things perfect?
Egg nog, a fire, presents, and someone to cuddle up with and watch It's A Wonderful Life. (And my dog at my feet)

3. Do you do have any holiday traditions?
When I was a kid, my family had the Promise Tree which was basically a tree-shaped piece of felt/cloth with 25 pockets for each day up to and counting Christmas. Each pocket would contain a slip of paper that would give one of my brothers or I (alternatively) a small present. We also bake a ton of cookies and then eat a huge plate of them on Christmas Eve.

4. Do you do anything to help the needy?
Sure, I give money when I can and donate old clothes when I have no use for them.

5. What one gift would you like for yourself?
A chain-smoking, tap-dancing polar bear or this I suppose.

I'm getting weaker I'm getting thin
I hate how obvious I have been
I'm getting weaker
I'm getting weaker
I'm getting weaker
I'm getting weaker
and I look down and see the whole world
and it's fading
and it's fading
and it's fading...

In-between Worlds

I love snow, at least the freshly fallen kind. I wasn't expecting to walk outside this morning to a soft blanket of white powder covering the world. It makes everything seem a little more serene, a little more beautiful. Plus there isn't as much noise and clatter and the wisps of smoke issuing forth from all the buildings gives a relaxed feel to the air. Then...

I go to work. It's graduation day which means everyone is stressed out between studying for finals, having to work a long day, and wanting to celebrate throughout the weekend. I, however, have spent my day (so far) standing by the bar, watching television, chatting with the bartender, and listening to the bickering and whining by the rest of the staff. Especially some of the managers. In my opinion, you don't have good managerial skills when you're rushing around cursing, yelling at people for who-knows-what, and unable to get yourself under control. In other words, you're making the workplace a lot worse rather than better. I have to head back that way in a short few minutes due to one of the bartenders calling in "sick" (most likely due to the aforementioned reasons). At least I'll get to look at the snow for a few more minutes...

Doesn't get any better

Is there really anything better than that span of sixty minutes between 4-5 pm when Around the Horn and PTI cover the day's news in sports? I'm hard pressed to find one right now. I don't know if I favor one in particular or not. Around the Horn has it's multiple viewpoints on issues, but this also limits the time that each person can speak. (It's elimination aspect is also an added bonus.) However, PTI is able to spend more time on each issue and has daily guests. Hmm, it's probably why I end up watching both.

Flying By

These weeks seem to be progressing way too fastly. Maybe it's just the anticipation for football on the weekends, but it seems like my weekdays go by in a blur with nothing getting accomplished. I did get some good work done on my upcoming website last night though. It gets pretty frustrating when you're creating graphics...or I should say when you're a perfectionist creating graphics. I think it's looking pretty good though. Pretty close to being ready for unveiling. Anyways, that could be a little ways off due to my financial woes.

I'm pretty stoked about tomorrow though, which, if any of you pay attention to sports, is the Big XII Championship game. K-state vs OU. If any of you are K-State fans, you might also notice the similarities between this game and the '98 Big XII Championship game (aka The worst sports moment of my life). Except this time we're on the other side of the coin - We have 3 losses (A&M had 3), No one is expecting us to beat OU (No one thought A&M could beat us), One of OU's main coaches is leaving for another school after the game (Stoops left for OU after '98), National Championship implications are possibly at stake (*sigh* I don't even want to remember that). So if history repeats itself (it's supposed to right!?), then we should all see the Wildcats hoisting the Big XII Trophy come tomorrow night! Go Cats!

Late, but here nonetheless

1. Do you like to shop? Why or why not?
Not really. If there's something I want to buy, I already know it and may browse for a few minutes. Otherwise, I don't like to tempt myself with things that I can't buy. So if you include buying in shopping, then no. Otherwise, sure.

2. What was the last thing you purchased?
An Addidas stocking cap. Unless you count groceries and then it would be two pounds of fresh green beans.

3. Do you prefer shopping online or at an actual store? Why?
Just read my first answer^

4. Did you get an allowance as a child? How much was it?
Yes. It started out small (something like 50 cents a week). And eventually was up to around $10 I think, before I got my first job. I had to do chores to earn it too, so sometimes it wouldn't be quite so much.

5. What was the last thing you regret purchasing?
Michel Gondry DVD. Not so much for what it is but for the vacany of my bank account.

Nuff said.
