Getting it all done

Well...I had to cut my cable about a week ago since I didn't really want to double my bill for the next month. Even then, I have to decide how the whole 'cable modem' thing works out with Adam. All I have to say is it better work out! Besides that I've just been trying to get all sorts of things done that I've been putting off for an indefinite amount of time. Such as thoroughly cleaning my car, balancing my checkbook, and thoroughly cleaning my apartment. I've also been spending a fair amount of my time at Mike's (due to his internet access). He's a good man- and thorough.

This is News?

So, I'm sitting here watching E! Entertainment's E! News Live (on E!) .......E! It's quite ridiculous actually. It reminds me very much so of Channel 25 (the powerhouse broadcasting station here in town). They seem to have given two former models a desk (or is it a fashionable coffee table?) and some vague ideas for stories and let them loose! For instance, one of today's top stories was Ashton Kutcher and Britany Murphy were seen at a QVC fundraiser even though they broke up last week. They broke up folks! I can't believe their headline-worthy relationship has come to a close. And in other news, we got to see an E! News Live E! Interview with the Ms. from Mr. Personality. She basically avoided saying anything of substance for five minutes while the two models giggled and trashed her show. And to round out the newscast, they finished with Jewel's new video...wait a minute, this is Jewel?

Wild Weekend

Being that it's Graduation weekend, I guess I should have expected it to be a little crazy around here. Friday started out really crazy though. I had to work in the morning and it was one of the worst day's I've ever had at Harry's. It just seemed like every possible bad combination of events that could happen, did. The cooks would mess up my orders. I would forget salads that needed to be made. Tables would add people without my knowing. Grr- it was frustrating. Then after we closed for lunch, I had to stick around to help set up for Graduation weekend, which ended up taking around 2 hours. As I was setting up I heard someone talking about a fire in Aggieville that morning. Turns out, Aggie Station and Crystallos burned down and Porter's had some damage too! I was pretty surprised I didnt hear anything since I live only a few blocks from there. I drove by on the way home and Aggie Station is now four walls with a pile of smoldering rubble in the middle. Pretty wierd.

Last week (for some)

So, this is the last week for this year of schooling at the University. This means by this time next week, the entire city will be turned into a a somewhat vacant town. It's not that bad, really. There's no more traffic or stupid people at least. Plus, it seems like there are quite a few friends staying up here for the summer. Although there are also many friends leaving.....hm.......

The Majesty of Local Cable

So after work and a somewhat boring party last night, Mike and I were hanging out in his room and decided to check out Channel 25. Let me first give you a short synopsis on Channel 25:

Over at Harry's (my work location not a person), there's a barfly named Gary who, of course, comes in every night for a few drinks. Now, I prefer to call him Brother Gary since he sports a full beard and usually wears overalls or some suspenders. Brother Gary works at the School of Journalism over at the University and over the past month or so, he's told me about a campus television station that they are trying to get started (Channel 25). However, they won't have any "real" programming until the students get back in the Fall. This means that, for the time being, the station will be endlessly looping various things that Gary and some others have taped over the last twenty-odd years. Enter Steve, Bob, & Rich:

They are quite possibly the greatest, hippest, and most influential band that I have ever been witness to. Their very name elicits images of power and greatness. Here's the scene: It's the Mid-80s. Neon colors and tank tops are at their fashionable peak. Somewhere in the vicinity of Manhattan a public park has decided to throw a party. They've been able to land the hottest act out of Kansas City, Missouri: Steve, Bob & Rich!!! (they played with the Beach Boys at Sandstone, people!) Tens of people have shown up to hear the amazing power trio. The band takes the stage/trailerbed. Steve (or Rich) is wearing a pair of blazing red pants, a green hawaiian shirt over a white tshirt, some Risky Business sunglasses, and a pink visor to cover up his rapidly decreasing hairline. He resembles Jon Bon Jovi if he had less money and was uglier. He preps his guitar. Rich (or Steve) stands ready on the opposite side of the stage/trailerbed. He sports a pair of hospital scrubs, a sleeveless red tshirt (complete with nipple marker) and what can best be described as a backwards, multicolor painting hat. His curly hair tufts shoot out randomly from underneath the stylish chapeau. Standing center stage, however, is the man that draws all of the women's attention- BOB! His tight blue jeans are tucked into his sexy cowboy boots. His white button-up shirt is open yet tied around his waist, accenting his heroin-chic chest. His cross eyed look and gravity-defying coif only add to his magnetism. The "@$$hole" (Did I really hear that right??) introduces the band and the music kicks in. Steve (or Rich) strums away on his somewhat inaudible guitar. Rich (or Steve) thrashes a single note on his bass, holding it aloft to show the crowd his talent! They each take turns singing, but it is Bob who brings out the true power. His voice recalls Elvis, Buddy Holly, and a dying goat all mixed into one. They cover various great songs and also mix in some of their own hits (including the oh-so-catchy "Let My People Go Go Go!") The frivolous fans frolick in the sun while the ear-bending harmonies of Steve, Bob, & Rich cover them. Play on you champions of music......

Play On.....................

Switching over

So, I'm trying to figure out the whole switching-over the bills situation once Andy leaves. As far as I can tell from our conversation, I'm going to keep the phone bill in my name..and maybe the cable bill? I can't quite remember. The whole cable situation has me a bit worried. First, Andy is leaving after May. So, I would have to foot the entire cable bill in June if I wanted to keep it. Second, Adam is moving in in July. Only problem there being I dont know if he would want to keep a cable modem. He doesnt have a computer, but then again he uses email, news, etc online. I, on the other hand, am constantly online. What a conundrum. Plus, I think Adam said he wanted to keep his phone number from his apartment. However, the fee for changing the number would be more than the fee for keeping it (if there is a fee?) and Adam has a bunch of the superfluous crap (call waiting, call notes, caller id) on his account for the other apartment. So maybe, if we cancelled the superfluous crap, he wouldnt mind pitching in for the cable modem...hmm.

I had a detective call me this morning to tell me that they may have caught the fella who broke into my car. I guess he could be connected to 200 car robberies!! What a punk. So maybe I'll end up getting reimbursed for those CDs after all. I'm still not gonna hold my breath though.
